This document is a simplified version of our Terms. Full legal terms apply where required.
These Terms explain what you can expect from DotShift and what we expect from you when using our hosting services.
They apply to all DotShift products and features, including shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, domains, email, and add-ons.
By using our services, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy.
Please read this page and keep a copy for your records.
General terms
These Terms are a legal agreement between DotShift and you.
We aim to provide reliable and secure hosting services, but certain limitations apply as outlined below.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post updates here and may also notify you by email or in your client area.
Our services are provided on an "as available" basis. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service unless a specific SLA says otherwise.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability is limited, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. For eligible uptime events, SLA credit is your main remedy.
Accounts & security
You must be 18+ and provide accurate account details.
- You are responsible for your account and everyone who uses it.
- Keep your login details secure and keep your contact email updated.
- We may request KYC documents to prevent fraud and meet legal requirements.
- If KYC details are false or missing, we may suspend or close the account.
If abuse is reported and verified, we may suspend services, charge reinstatement fees, or terminate repeat offenders.
Billing & payments
Services are prepaid. You must pay invoices on time.
Payments are generally non-refundable unless stated in our Refund Policy or required by law.
- Prices may change at renewal. Taxes apply where required.
- Late or failed payments may lead to suspension or termination.
- Do not file chargebacks before contacting billing for resolution.
- Wrongful chargebacks may result in account closure and recovery of related costs.
We may suspend services without notice for abuse, fraud, security risks, or legal compliance.
Orders with pricing or system errors may be canceled. If you were charged, we will refund or credit the amount.
Some parts of our service rely on third-party providers. We are not responsible for third-party outages or failures beyond our stated SLA commitments.
Refund policy (summary only – full terms apply)
Refunds depend on product type, eligibility, and abuse checks.
Refund Policy prevails: This section is only a short summary. Full refund rules are in our Refund Policy. If there is a conflict, the Refund Policy applies unless mandatory law says otherwise.
- Some hosting plans may have a limited money-back window.
- VPS, dedicated servers, domains, licenses, and renewals are generally non-refundable.
- Promotions, discounts, fraud, abuse, or policy misuse may reduce or void refunds.
- Approved refunds may be returned to the original payment method or issued as account credit.
Full details, eligibility rules, and the full refund process are available on our Refund Policy page.
VPS & dedicated hosting
VPS and dedicated plans are self-managed unless you purchase managed support.
- You are responsible for server software, security, updates, and backups.
- High resource use may require optimization or an upgrade.
- "DMCA-ignored" labels do not mean immunity from law.
- Illegal content is strictly prohibited.
You are responsible for what you host and how you use your server.
Prohibited use
You may not use DotShift for illegal, abusive, or harmful activity.
- Examples include malware, phishing, DDoS, spam, piracy, child abuse material, terrorism-related content, and scams.
- Serious violations may lead to immediate suspension or termination.
- Refund eligibility after enforcement actions is governed by the Refund Policy.
Unmetered & fair use
Unlimited ≠ Unlimited
Our "Unlimited" hosting (shared and reseller) is designed for normal website usage. It does not include unlimited storage or any form of abusive usage.
What it means
- Host websites, domains, and standard business projects without fixed limits.
- Suitable for HTML, PHP, CMS (WordPress, etc.), and typical web applications.
What it does NOT mean
- No bulk storage, backups, or archiving.
- No file hosting (movies, software, large downloads, zip files).
- No high-resource or abusive workloads.
Storage guidelines
- Storage is for website content only.
- Typical usage should remain within reasonable limits (around 50GB per cPanel account).
Fair use enforcement
If your usage impacts server performance or other users, we may:
- Request optimization.
- Require a plan upgrade (VPS or Dedicated).
- Limit resources or suspend services.
Network fair use
Traffic limits, speed, and ports are based on your purchased plan.
- Overages may be billed or throttled as per your plan.
- Illegal or abusive traffic may be blocked regardless of quota.
- High-risk public relay services may be restricted.
Domains
Domain services follow registry and ICANN rules.
- Registrations are final once processing starts, except where policy or law requires otherwise.
- Transfer locks, redemption fees, and document requirements may apply.
- Premium domain pricing errors may be canceled and refunded.
Shared email is for normal communication, not bulk campaigns.
- Deliverability is not guaranteed due to external factors and shared IP reputation.
- We may block outbound mail if abuse is detected.
- High-volume outbound mail requires prior written approval.
Uptime (SLA)
Uptime targets depend on product type. Live status: up.dotshift.net.
Uptime targets are goals, not guarantees, unless explicitly stated in your plan or invoice.
- Shared, cloud, and standard hosting: 99.9% uptime target
- Alternate-jurisdiction hosting: 99.5% uptime target
- VPS and dedicated: no uptime guarantee unless stated on your invoice
SLA credits, if applicable, are the sole compensation for downtime and are subject to service eligibility and exclusions such as user misconfiguration, abuse, scheduled maintenance, and third-party failures.
Backups
You are responsible for your own backups.
Any backup we provide is a courtesy and not guaranteed for retention, completeness, or restore success.
Cancellation
You can cancel from your client area at any time.
- Please export your data before cancellation.
- Suspension is temporary; termination ends service.
- Serious violations may lead to immediate termination.
- Outstanding fees remain payable after termination.
We do not guarantee data recovery after cancellation or termination.
Any refunds are handled only under the Refund Policy and applicable law.
Affiliate program
Affiliate commissions apply to eligible orders we approve.
- Current commission rate, payout timing, and minimum threshold are set by program terms.
- Fraud, self-referrals, fake traffic, or refunded/charged-back orders are not commission-eligible.
- We may reverse or recover commissions linked to invalid orders.
Copyright
You must have legal rights to all content you host.
- Send copyright notices to [email protected].
- Jurisdiction-specific handling may apply for some products.
- Illegal content is never allowed, regardless of jurisdiction.
You are responsible for claims arising from your content, to the extent allowed by law.
